Responsibilities of Departments/Offices under the Grievance Procedure

The Mediation Officer publishes an annual report on the operation of the grievance procedure in the Civil Service.

To enable him to publish this report and in accordance with the grievance procedure each Personnel Officer is required to provide a report to the mediation officer on the operation of the grievance procedure in his/her Department annually.

The areas that the report should cover are:

  • The number and nature of cases dealt with under Stage 1 of the grievance procedure
  • The number and nature of cases where a referral to the mediation officer was refused
  • The reason for the refusal of such requests

This information is requested annually to the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform
